Understand what the job entails

A chaplain (ã ) is ordered or commissioned by an organization or a religious group to meet the needs of people in many different situations . A chaplain often work in hospitals, nursing homes, military bases, prisons and business . As chaplain, his role is to contact people who need guidance and offer advice and comfort to those who are ill, confined to home or away from home service. Depending on where you are employed , your duties may include:

• Visit people connected to his congregation or organization , at home or in hospital or define an expedient during which people can find it.

• Listen to people who need spiritual support and pray with them .

Keep an open mind and show empathy

A chaplain (ã) should be able to deep empathy and openness to form relationships with many different people from all backgrounds. As chaplain, you are in a position to help people who are very vulnerable, either facing a terminal illness or because they are far from home and family. Possess the ability to connect to people of all backgrounds is an important prerequisite to be a chaplain.  

• Chaplains working in hospitals, prisons, military bases or business interact with people of different religions. Some people who seek spiritual guidance can not belong to a religion. To be a good chaplain, it is important to be open and accept all kinds of religious beliefs, even those different from yours.

• Even that is a member of a religious congregation in particular, you need to be able to work with people from different backgrounds. Be reliable and able to keep secret

As a lawyer or a psychiatrist who must maintain confidentiality , it expects you to do the same.

A chaplain who can not be trusted soon loses the authority and efficiency.

Be available to help at any time

People face spiritual crises at any time, even in the night .

Depending on where you work as a doctor on call, you may need to drop what you’re doing or wake up at any time to help those who are in trouble.

Be selfless so is not in the nature of most people :

MEETING THE REQUIREMENTS OF EDUCATIONAL ONIC

 

It is ordered by the religious organization (ONIC)

As the occupation of chaplain (ã ) has its roots in religion, education and training in religious practice is a necessity. You need to be ordered and approved by their religious organization (ONIC) before being hired as a chaplain or volunteer work form . For example, the US Army requires that the individual belongs to membership in a denomination or religious group to apply. Many religious groups and organizations have their own standards and qualifications to be met to officially approve someone as qualified chaplain.
